Each life is indeed a gift, no matter how short, no matter how fragile, to be held in our hearts forever.
May we first offer you our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your baby. We hope you will find comfort in visiting our baby memorial garden, which is located on the Royal Bolton Hospital site.
The creation of the baby memorial garden was made possible thanks to the support, hard work and fundraising efforts of volunteers from local voluntary and community groups, local businesses and staff from Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.
The baby memorial garden was officially opened on 23rd September 2017 and honours all babies who have died during pregnancy, during birth or in the months after birth.
The garden provides a tranquil and beautiful space where you can go to reflect and remember your baby. It offers seating and, at its centre, sits a specially commissioned, commemorative sculpture.
The glass orb (designed by local art student, Victoria Lynch) was part of the original sculpture that was sadly lost to vandalism in 2019. The replacement plinth was designed and installed by H and S Fishwick of Blackrod in October 2019.
We offer baby memorial plaques, which can be engraved and installed in the baby memorial garden for a minimum donation of £25 to the Our Bolton NHS Charity. If you would like further details of the memorial plaques or would like to place an order, please see our frequently asked questions page.
Our Bolton NHS Charity is a registered charity (1050488) whose main aim is to enhance the NHS experience for all patients under our care, be that in hospital, within the community or at home.
The generosity of our loyal supporters allows us to achieve this aim through investment in new medical equipment; making improvements to the care environment, and funding specialist training so our staff can provide the highest standard of care and support to our patients and their families.
During the year, we hold commemorative events in the baby memorial garden, for example, a baby remembrance service in March and the ‘Wave of Light’ service in October.
If you would like to subscribe to our mailing list to receive details of these events or if you are interested in becoming a member of the ‘Friends of the Baby Memorial Garden’, please indicate these preferences on the order form at the back of this information pack.
