The Ultrasound machines will provide improved quality images and are part of an ongoing rolling equipment replacement programme to ensure all machines are kept up to date with the latest technology.
Rae Wheatcroft, Bolton NHS Foundation Trust’s Chief Operating Officer, officially opened the refurbished facilities on 1 September 2022.
Rae said:
The results of this revamp are fantastic and will benefit both patients who come for their appointments as well as being a nicer space for our staff to work in.
The special opening has given us the opportunity to mark and celebrate these significant improvements in our Ultrasound Department.
Bolton NHS Foundation Trust’s Ultrasound department provides both maternity and medical scanning to Bolton with more than 4,000 examinations completed each month by specialist and highly-skilled sonographers.
The Ultrasound team worked closely with Bolton’s maternity team to ensure the improvements would benefit as many patients as possible.
Jennifer Unsworth Operational Business Manager for Radiology, Medical Illustration and Breast Imaging, said:
I am really pleased that we have been able to support this investment in the Ultrasound Department and the team and we have already seen a positive impact from the changes made so far.
We are continuing to invest in our facilities and our workforce to ensure that our services remain fit for the future needs of our patients and that we continue to provide a great place to work.
