Find your rhythm and raise money at Bolton’s new charity Danceathon

  • Our Bolton NHS Charity is joining forces with Bolton Wanderers in the Community for a new fundraiser
  • Charity danceathon and community health and wellbeing event will take place on Sunday 15 September 2024
  • Registration is now open and sponsorship opportunities are available

Residents, businesses and community organisations in Bolton are being encouraged to find their rhythm and help change lives across the town at an all-new charity danceathon.

Our Bolton NHS Charity and Bolton Wanderers in the Community are coming together to host three hours of non-stop dancing and a community health and wellbeing event at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

Taking place on Sunday 15 September 2024, the danceathon will kick off at 10am with Zumba fitness instructor, Sarah Walton, and supporting dancers.

Those taking part will dance individually or in teams, and raise vital funds for Our Bolton NHS Charity and Bolton Wanderers in the Community.

Richard Slater, Head of Community at Bolton Wanderers in the Community, said “We are delighted to be partnering with Our Bolton NHS Charity on this event. Not only does the danceathon fit into our commitment to promote the benefits of being active and moving more, but it also aligns with what we are trying to achieve through using the platform of Bolton Wanderers to support our local community and charities.”

A community health and wellbeing event and family fun-day will take place alongside the charity danceathon, and local organisations and providers such as Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, Bolton GP Federation, Bolton Wanderers in the Community, will be providing information and advice about support services available to people living in Bolton.

Fiona Noden, Chief Executive at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and Place Based Lead for Bolton, said: “Moving more, whether through walking, dancing or other physical activity is great for both physical and mental health, and when combined with the company of friends, family and colleagues can be brilliant fun too.

It’s wonderful to know so many Bolton-based organisations and charities are coming together to engage with, support, and empower people within our town to lead active, healthy lives and seek the right support when they need it.

Sarah Skinner, Charity Manager at Our Bolton NHS Charity, said:

We’re really excited to be working with Bolton Wanderers in the Community in this way. By collaborating, our collective reach and impact are greater, which is exactly what we want for the local communities of Bolton. Please get involved in whatever way you can, and help us make a difference.

How to get involved

The charity danceathon is open to people aged 13 and above and you can enter as an individual or as a team of three.

Individuals will be dancing for the full three hours, whilst team entrants have the choice to change every 30 or 60 minutes.

The suggested fundraising pledge is £100 per entrant, with all monies raised being split equally between Bolton Wanderers in the Community and Our Bolton NHS Charity.
