The voices of one hundred patients at Royal Bolton Hospital are shaping change in a powerful initiative to improve what people experience when they receive care and treatment in the future.
‘100 Voices’ saw a dedicated week of action to improve understanding about what is working well for patients, and what could be improved to help them stay well and recover.
A small team made up of nursing, medical and operational staff attended each of the 34 wards at the hospital to speak to up to 10 patients.
The aim of the visits were to open up the conversation around how the patient was feeling, their understanding of the care they received, and their involvement with getting ready to return to the comfort of the place they call home.
Tyrone Roberts, Chief Nursing Officer at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, said:
Feedback from our patients is so important in enabling us to make positive changes to our services and the quality of the care we provide.
“Whilst we’re always listening to what our patients have to say, hearing their stories during this week-long initiative has been a really powerful way for us understand what we’re doing well, and what could be better next time.
“Thank you all of our patients who gave up their time to speak to staff and to make sure their voices are heard.
Patient feedback from the initiative will help shape improvements at the hospital.
