Our Emergency Department (ED) is continuing to experience very high levels of activity

We know it is frustrating when you are unwell and may have a long wait to get the care you need. We are working really hard to see people where they need to be seen, as quickly as possible.

Scale showing accident and emergency is extremely busy

Our Emergency Department is currently experiencing extremely high levels of activity. Waiting time is approx. 4+ hours.

You can help us too…

  • You may be referred to our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) if you attend our ED with a more minor condition, where you will be offered a pre-booked appointment.
  • Avoid delays by finding out more about what our UTC does, watch this helpful clip, as it might be the best place for you to receive care.
  • Our Urgent Treatment Centre is best placed to deal with both illnesses and minor injuries, and helps you to avoid a long wait if not needed. Appointments are available by calling 111.
  • In this cold weather, please look after yourself and check in on loved ones and vulnerable neighbours. For tips on staying well during the cold weather please visit: https://ow.ly/e1qe50U9lJP.
  • We encouraged to think Pharmacy First when it comes to getting treatment for seven common conditions. No need to book an appointment, just ask at your local pharmacy. Conditions treated as part of Pharmacy First:
