As the world celebrated the start of 2025, midwives at Royal Bolton Hospital were helping families in Bolton to welcome the first babies of the new year.
Baby Mila was among the first of the special arrivals on the maternity ward, born to parents Charlotte Orrell and Joseph Murray at 6.19am and weighing 2.7kg (6lbs).
A few hours later, Beth Ashcroft and her partner Matt saw the arrival of their baby son, Reuben, at 10.18am, who weighed 3.4kg (7.5lbs).
The busy start to the year continued throughout the day, before Georgia Marriott and Danny Burrows welcomed their new addition, Jaxx, at 7.59pm.
Jaxx, weighing 3.7kg (8.2lbs), is a little brother to his big sister’s Tori and Nola.
Janet Cotton, Director of Midwifery Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, said:
It’s always a pleasure and privilege to bring new life into the world but there’s something extra special about seeing the magic that birth brings at this time of year.
“It’s so wonderful to be able to support families during their birth experience.
In 2024, the maternity department at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust delivered more than 5,000 babies.
