Dr Kamal Ibrahim trained at the University of Khartoum and joined Bolton NHS Foundation Trust in 2007.
Previously, he has trained at hospitals in the North West and Yorkshire, the London Chest Hospital, the Royal London, St Bartholomew’s and the University College of London Hospital.
Dr Ibrahim is Bolton NHS FT Lead for COPD and pulmonary rehabilitation as well as pleural diseases.
Interests: COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and pleural diseases – including pleural ultrasound and more recently medical thoracoscopy which is currently performed by only a few hospitals in the North West region.
Research: Anaemia in COPD
Dr Kamal Ibrahim has invented and patented a new chest drain system for which he received a British Medical Association award in 2005.
