Mr Bohdan Smajer

Professional background

Mr Smajer studied medicine at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic and after comprehensive training in the University Hospital of Brno, he became a fully qualified surgeon in 2004. His broad surgical experience comes from the Czech Republic, France, Greece and from several humanitarian missions in Africa with Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders).

Mr Smajer moved to the UK in 2008. He has held consultant posts in Abergavenny, South Wales and Gloucester and was appointed as a consultant general surgeon at the Royal Bolton Hospital in May 2010.

Special interests and research

Mr Bohdan Smajer specialises in upper gastrointestinal and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, with a particular interest in gall bladder and hernias.
